PC DRIVER REPAIR: Driver 5

Driver 5 will be the newest installment to the Driver series of video games. The Driver series was developed by Ubisoft Reflections and published by GT Interactive. Later on, the publisher became Atari. To date, there have been five installments of the game, with the latest being released in May 2007. Driver 5 is slated to come out in September 2009. In the game, the player is an undercover cop named Officer Tanner. He gains access to numerous gangs by posing as a getaway driver. The game is set in the 1970’s in four US cities (Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York). In the second installment, a new player was introduced along with four new cities, two of which are Havana and Rio de Janeiro. Detective Tobias Jones is Officer Tanner’s partner. It was the first time a 2-player mode was available. The third installment takes place in Miami, Nice, and Istanbul and introduces the ability to use firearms. Despite poor reviews of the game, it sold fairly well. The fourth game was vastly different from the first three in that the player is now T.K., who is a criminal, and takes place in 1978 and 2006. This game also did not receive good reviews, however unlike that last installment; this one did not sell well. Driver 5 will be the next game to be released in this series. There has been a great deal of buzz circulating, however definite information has not been released.
